Recommended Websites Types and Styles Of Car Steering System Car steering is one of the most important components of a car which main purpose is to move or turn a vehicle from left to right. Without it, it will be absolutely impossible to maneuver a car and change its directions. Steering systems have been around just about as long as the wheel. Most land vehicles, even boats and airplanes, have a steering system. Cars, just like other land vehicles, make use of different designs of steering system. One notable part of a car steering system is the steering wheel. This particular component is mounted in front of the driver's seats. When you rotate the steering wheel, the wheels also move. Usually, the steering wheel moves the front wheels in a car. There is also a series of gears that help turn the vehicle. There are two styles of vehicle steering system installed in cars these days. They are called the "ract & pinion" and the "worm gear box". Ract & pinion steering system is one of the oldest types of steering systems that is still used today. The housing of the ract and pinion is long and narrow compared to the actual box shape of the steering gear. The steering wheel is connected to the pinion gear that moves the wheels. Meanwhile, the worm gear box consists of several gears that push the link rod steering arm to point the tires in the direction of travel. Two types of steering system can also be found in modern cars. It can either be power or manual. In manual car steering, rotating the wheel is manually done by hand. With power steering, you can rotate the the steering wheel with the help of hydraulic pump mounted on the engine. However, when the power steering fails, the driver still has a direct mechanical connection to the wheels but it will be difficult to steer the car. Automotive
